Reporting your result

The running of the competition relies on clubs reporthing their results as soon as possible after the final whistle.

You can text your score to 07797 800102 or by telephone to 01822 678 007.

When telephoning the first thing we need to know is the home team, once we have located the game we will ask for the score - ALWAYS give the home team score first regardless of who won. If the score exceeds 20 we will ask you for the number of tries. You must have this information to hand, we cannot afford to hang on the line while you go off to check.

Once you are sure we have the score please remember to hang up - each week at least one person forgets and it blocks the lines for other callers.

Please do not ask for other scores - again this ties up the lines for other clubs trying to call in.

Result Cards

All clubs were sent sufficient cards to last the season, but along the way they get lost, stolen, used as beermats or just simply misplaced.

Any club which is running out should send an C5 sized SAE with an ordinary first class stamp on it to the SW Administration Office, P O BOX 3781, SWINDON, SN2 9GW. Remember to state which of your teams it is for as different leagues use different cards.

We aim to supply new cards within 72 hours of receiving your request.

Cup congratulations

Congratulations to Trowbridge and Longlevens who have won through to the National Semi Finals of the Intermediate and Junior Cups respectively.

They will meet opponents from London & SE Division on Easter Saturday. The draw will be made next month for home advantage.

Joining them in the final will be the winners of the SW Senior Cup Final due to be played on the 15th March and featuring Newent and the winners of the outstanding tie between Gosford All Blacks and Chesham.

Easter games

Due to the number of postponed games, in some leagues the South West has now had to schedule games for Easter Saturday or Easter Monday.

Clubs should be aware they can bring these games forward by mutual consent. Some clubs have already asked to play matches on Good Friday or on midweek dates under floodlights.

If you wish to move a game we need a written request from both clubs - the best way to do this is via the Fixture Change form at http://www.swrugby.co.uk/fixturechange - but please note, we need both clubs to fill in the form.

New Secretary for Somerset 2 North & South

The South West is pleased to welcome Neil Prescott as the new League Secretary for the Tribute Somerset 2 North and South Leagues.

He succeeds the late, and still much missed, David Smith who died last October.

Des Chalmers, League Secretary of Somerset 3 North and South, has acted as interim contact for the two leagues but all matters regarding Somerset 2 North & South should be referred to Neil from now on.

You can find his details under "Contact Us"

Registration Transfer Deadline

All clubs are reminded that the Transfer Deadline this year is on Friday 28th February 2014. After that date any player who has been previously Effectively Registered with any Club during the current season and/or is a Contracted Player, Contracted Overseas Player, Foreign Player or an Overseas Player will not be eligible until 15th June.

To meet the deadline the player has to complete his waiting period by the 1st, so all the requisite paperwork must reach the Registrar by Friday 21st February or where expedited registration is applied for, by 12 noon on Friday 28th February.

You must ensure that all registration papers are correct as any problems with them may result in the player missing the Transfer Deadline.

Players who do not fall into the above categories may still be registered in the usual seven day or expedited periods after this date and play this season.

The continuing bad weather....

Another 103 games were called off due to the weather today, bringing the total for the season to over 400.

These have all now been given new dates, however many leagues now have games on Easter Saturday and in three cases Easter Monday as well.

The South West will be looking at all re-arranged fixtures to see if by moving them around more efficient use can be made of the remaining Saturdays this season. Clubs are also welcome to review their own games and if they wish to move a game to a midweek date under lights or when the clocks change they are encouraged to contact the Admin Office to discuss the possibilities.

Please note, at present, an extension to the season has not been sanctioned but the situation remains under review.
