South West and Tribute launch Team of the Month

The South West Leagues in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset have teamed up with St Austell Brewery to launch a Team of the Month award.

Each month a local panel of judges will decide on the most deserving rugby union team in each of the three counties and they will receive a case of Tribute Ale.

Mike Gee, the South West Leagues’ Co-ordinating Secretary, said: “We are delighted to have closer ties with St Austell Brewery, who have been very supportive of us over the years. The awards will not necessarily go to the teams winning the most games, we will also look at teams who have battled against the odds to succeed or pulled off a giant-killing result – so there is all to play for”.

St Austell, through its Tribute brand, has backed rugby in the three counties for a decade. Marc Bishop, the brewery’s Trade Marketing Manager, said: “Tribute is delighted to be increasing our involvement with Rugby Union in the South West leagues. We are pleased to be recognising the effort clubs put in week in, week out on the pitch.”

The first awards, for February, will announced in early March.
